Aveira Clocks ("Aveira," "we," "us") makes a smart alarm clock designed to help people put their phones down and sleep better. We are three high school students in Cary, North Carolina, and we take your privacy as seriously as we take our product's. This policy explains what information we collect through our website and product, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect on this website
We only collect information you choose to give us:
- Waitlist and newsletter signups, your email address.
- Contact form, your name, email address, and the message you write.
- Pre-orders, your order details (product, color, quantity). Payments are handled by PayPal, a secure payment company. We never see or store your card or bank details.
Your shopping cart is saved only in your own browser (using local storage) so it's still there when you come back. It never leaves your device until you check out.
What our clock does not collect
The Aveira One has no camera and no microphone. Its sensor can only tell that someone is present in the room, a bit like a motion light. It cannot see you, hear you, record you, or identify you. That sensing happens on the clock itself and is not uploaded anywhere.
How we use your information
- To send you the updates you signed up for, build progress, launch news, and your ship date.
- To reply when you contact us.
- To process and deliver your pre-order.
- To keep the website working and safe.
That's it. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.
Who helps us handle your data
A few trusted services help us run Aveira:
- Netlify hosts our website and stores form submissions (waitlist, newsletter, contact).
- PayPal processes payments when you check out. Your card or bank details go directly to PayPal, never to us.
- Google (Gmail) is where we read and answer your emails.
Each of these companies has its own privacy policy and strong security practices.
Cookies and local storage
We don't use advertising cookies or trackers. The only thing our site stores in your browser is your shopping cart, so it's there when you return. You can clear it any time in your browser settings.
The companion app
The Aveira Companion App is still in development. Before it launches, we will publish a separate, plain-language privacy policy explaining exactly what it does and doesn't collect. The same rule will apply: no cameras, no microphones, no selling data.
Kids' privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information to us, email us and we'll delete it.
Your choices
- Every email we send includes a way to unsubscribe, or you can just reply "unsubscribe."
- You can ask us what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, just email us.
- You can cancel a pre-order for a full refund any time before it ships.
How this website was built
This website was built with the help of AI-assisted development tools. We, the three founders, made every product, design, and content decision, and we're responsible for everything published here. Using AI tools to help write and build the site doesn't change any of the data practices described in this policy, and it doesn't mean your information is processed by AI beyond the ordinary use of the services already listed above.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. For big changes, we'll email the people on our list.
